We recently stayed in Liverpool for a weekend and had the privilege of staying in the exclusive Pullman Hotel, located on the Liverpool Docks. Our welcome couldn’t have been better – there is no reception desk in the foyer, so someone greets you as you enter and they book you into your room straight away. We were given our key card, told how to use the lift (you scan your card first to make it move) and then were on our way.
Winding around the corridors we were immediately impressed at the tidiness of the place, every member of staff that passed us acknowledged us and said hello. It was incredibly friendly and welcoming.
Our room was incredible. We had booked an executive room as we were there for a few days and we were not disappointed. A beautiful swan towel display greeted us on the bed with a sprinkle of rose petals. We had a giant Flat screen TV with all the channels we would need and it was controlled with the use of an ipad which was incredible. Modern technology in this place was evident everywhere. We had the use of a nespresso coffee machine, a fully stocked and free mini bar in our fridge. Yes you read that right – free (it also got stocked up nightly too)
The room was so modern you could see right through the bathroom and into the bedroom! A novelty that lasted a little while before we pulled the curtain across for some privacy! The bathroom itself was a walk in wet room with both a bath and a shower. Plenty of fluffy towels and just so big!
We had lots of complimentary bottles of shower gel, shampoo and conditioner as well as things I didn’t think we’d need but really did use them – nail file, cotton buds, shower cap etc. They have literally thought of everything. It was such a luxury for us.
This place had so much space too – a temperature control in the room, an array of pillows to choose from on the bed – which incidentally was massive. Modern light fixtures and so much more. It really is the best hotel room we have ever stayed in – I didn’t really want to leave it, it was so very comfortable.
The view from our window wasn’t “pretty” as such – we were overlooking the Liverpool Echo arena, a carpark that had burnt down in December & parts of the town. It may not have been picturesque in the true sense, but we thought it was pretty cool. When we did look out the window – which lets face it wasn’t often – we did our fair share of people watching!
There was a desk under the window which had pen and paper on it as well as a comprehensive book about Liverpool which I flicked through but didn’t have a use for – if you were visiting for the first time though this would be so useful . Free wifi codes were available which is always a bonus.
In the wardrobes we had the use of slippers and dressing gowns too as well as use of an ironing board and an iron – without having to call reception for one! Definitely an added bonus. A hairdryer was also available in the room – honestly this place has thought of everything.
It didn’t stop there though – with our room we had the exclusive use of the executive lounge, which was just down the corridor from where we were staying.
It was completely underused by other guests when we were there – literally every time we went in it was empty! We adored it. We especially enjoyed it when we came back from a night of clubbing in Liverpool at 3am, as we could go in and grab a plate of food to eat and wind down on the sofa’s watching TV before heading back to our room. We also went there for a drink before we had headed out.
The room has a big seating area, some tables and chairs if you’re sitting down to eat, a TV and a computer that you can use too.
There was a food display left out for you to eat whatever you like – lots of bread, meats and cheeses, fruit, crisps and cake. A coffee machine and a full fridge of soft and alcoholic drinks.
We literally felt so spoilt and couldn’t get over the fact this was all included in the price. We felt like celebrities. I cannot rave about this place anymore! We are so looking forward to another visit in the future – I don’t think I could stay anywhere else when we visit Liverpool again.
Obviously food is hugely important when you’re in a hotel room – especially if you can’t be bothered to go out anywhere! Just like we did on the Sunday – a nice restful evening after having been out in the morning. So we decided to order room service.
There was a fantastic selection to choose from but I opted for a club sandwich, some fries and an apple crumble and ice cream. Sigh. As I type this I can recall this meal so well – it was simply delicious. The sandwich came with free veggie crisps which were incredible, the chips were delicious and everything was so hot! The apple crumble was intensely sweet and scrumptious and I was so happy once I had been fed. We tend not to order room service usually but had decided to treat ourselves and it was so worth it.
Talking of food, we ate breakfast in the hotel too – again we loved it. It’s a self service buffet with so much choice it’s unreal. You can keep going as it’s pretty much unlimited. Tea, coffee and an array of juices including rhubarb which was amazing – a cold buffet including pastries, fruit, yoghurt, crumpet, pancakes and waffles. Then a whole range of cooked English Breakfast Foods with the most incredible hash browns! Toast, jams – honestly there was so much to choose from and it was all delicious.
Whenever we were downstairs for breakfast we always used the toilets down there before we left the hotel too – they were also amazing and so modern and clean. Plenty of hand washes, body lotions and towels – so exclusive and comfortable. It was really wonderful.
Without fail this was an incredible hotel that gave us an incredible experience. We loved every second of being there and would recommend it 100% or more! If I had to give my usual five star rating it just doesn’t feel enough – this was 100 stars in my eyes. Oh and I forgot to include some details about parking – which couldn’t have been easier – right next to the hotel and you download an app on your phone so you can keep an eye on the pay and display. Incredible.
